Raj Devanand
Managing Director of MMPL
Raj holds a bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering from the University of Madras and further honed his skills with a Post-Graduate Diploma in Marine Engineering from HSL. His maritime journey commenced in 2002, starting as an engine cadet and gaining hands-on experience across a diverse range of vessels. Prior to transitioning to a shore-based role, he served as a Chief Engineer.
In 2014, Raj relocated to India and became a pivotal member of a Singaporean shipping firm. As both Technical Superintendent and Technical Manager for their Bulk Carrier fleet, he was instrumental in elevating the fleet’s overall performance through expert technical guidance, policy administration, and maintenance.
As the Managing Director of Marine Mechanics Pvt. Ltd. (MMPL), Raj oversees multifaceted operations across all divisions. His leadership team comprises ship management consultants, senior managers, engineers, hazardous material experts, chartered accountants, technical aides, and administrative staff. Together, they focus on steering both the technical and financial trajectories of the organization.
Beyond his managerial responsibilities, Raj is actively engaged in spearheading new and specialized projects. He also plays a key role in shaping and executing the company’s strategic business plans. His leadership has been pivotal in securing major approvals and accreditations for the company.
Bhupendra Bansal
Global Head of Navcom Division, MMPL
Bhupendra earned his bachelor’s degree in Electronics and Communications Engineering from RGPV University, Bhopal. He embarked on his maritime career in 2011, serving as an Electrical Officer and gaining valuable experience across various types of tanker vessels.
After nearly a decade at sea, Bhupendra transitioned to a shore-based role, joining a premier shipping company as an Electrical Superintendent. In this capacity, he managed daily operations and spearheaded special retrofit projects, including Ballast Water Treatment Systems (BWTS) and Scrubbers. His contributions were particularly noteworthy in the new construction of LR2 tanker vessels and the digital transformation of the fleet.
Subsequently, Bhupendra was appointed as the Electrical and Automation Manager in the company’s Decarbonization wing. There, he took on significant responsibilities such as retrofitting energy-saving devices, project, and vendor management, as well as cost optimization.
As the Global Head of the Navcom Division, Bhupendra is committed to ensuring the service division operates at peak efficiency while delivering services that not only meet but exceed customer expectations. He plays a pivotal role in formulating and executing global service strategies that are in sync with the company’s overarching business objectives. His exceptional leadership skills, strategic acumen, and deep market insights have been instrumental in enhancing the company’s service offerings and introducing innovative products in the Navcom industry.
Nilesh Mishra
Head of Airtime Solutions, GCS
Nilesh holds an Engineering degree in Electronics and Computers from Mumbai University. He launched his career in 1994 as a Junior Computer Engineer and subsequently gained extensive experience in various Computer Sales and Service organizations. His career took a significant turn in 2008 when he ventured into the field of Satellite Communications.
Joining a Mumbai-based Satellite Service Provider, Nilesh served as both a Technical Support Engineer and Manager. In these roles, he was instrumental in offering technical support to an impressive fleet of nearly 900 vessels, showcasing his expertise and commitment to excellence.
As the Head of Operations for the Airtime Solutions division at Marine Mechanics Pvt. Ltd. (MMPL), Nilesh leads a dedicated team of Sales Engineers and Technical Assistants. He is responsible for overseeing sales, managing daily technical operations, and spearheading IT-related projects onboard ships. His leadership ensures that the Airtime division operates smoothly and efficiently, meeting the diverse needs of our maritime clients.
Pradeep Mohan
Head of Business Development & Strategy, MMPL
Pradeep holds a bachelor’s degree in marine engineering from the Birla Institute of Technology. He set sail on his maritime career in 2005, accumulating a wealth of experience across a diverse range of vessels, including Car Carriers, Containers, Livestock Carriers, and Bulkers. After ten years at sea, Pradeep decided to further his education and earned a master’s degree in Procurement & Supply Chain from Aberdeen Business School.
Transitioning to a shore-based role, Pradeep joined a ship management company where he took charge of the technical purchasing division. His expertise didn’t go unnoticed, and he soon found himself working for a major automobile manufacturer. There, he managed the inventory and supply chain operations for the North American and European prototype car manufacturing divisions.
In 2020, Pradeep brought his extensive experience and strategic acumen to our organization. As the Head of Business Development and Strategy, he is responsible for steering the company’s growth initiatives and strategic planning. His multidisciplinary background makes him an invaluable asset to the team, contributing to the organization’s ongoing success.
Anand Sampathkumar
Head of Safety Division, MMPL
Anand began his maritime journey with a Marine Engineering diploma from the Singapore Maritime Academy, stepping onboard as a Junior Engineer in 2005. Over the next decade, he sailed on containers and car carriers, collaborating with industry-leading companies.
In addition to his engineering background, Anand holds a bachelor’s degree in business administration and an MBA in Strategic Management from Aston University, Birmingham, UK—a globally recognized top 50 business school.
Anand’s career is marked by a rich and diverse portfolio. His decade-long engineering experience in the shipping industry is complemented by roles in project management, where he was pivotal in the development of Ship Manager 2.0—a web-based ERP solution tailored for the shipping industry. He has also served as a Technical Manager with one of India’s leading logistics companies and as a Business Development Manager with a startup specializing in market intelligence.
Joining Marine Mechanics Pvt. Ltd. (MMPL) in 2023, Anand currently leads the Safety Division. He is responsible for overseeing Life-Saving Appliances (LSA), Fire-Fighting Appliances (FFA), and Calibration services. His multifaceted expertise makes him an invaluable asset to the MMPL team, ensuring the highest standards of safety and quality across our services.
